If you are not into walking, that is not a problem. Simply utilize the alphabetical index to quickly reference information on most points of interest within the Historic District.

A well done travel guide, and a must have for first time visitors to Savannah! I just returned from a 5-day trip to Savannah and am so glad I brought this book with me! The walking tours were well laid out, and even though we skipped around a bit it was very easy to get back on track. The pictures and descriptions were great and made traversing Historic Savannah a breeze. Of note, as we were walking around near the River District a gentleman approached us to say it was nice to see us using his book as reference - yep, he was the author! He very kindly spent a few minutes chatting with us, and even helped us with directions. I highly recommend this book to any and all looking for an easy to follow guide this lovely city.Good old photos but not as useful for walking tours. I wanted to like this phamphlet - it had numerous small wonderful vintage photos and drawings of what Savannah used to look like. I was frustrated that many stops on the walking tours had photos of the newer current buildings along with photos of the wonderful older buildings no longer present. While it was interesting from the history stand point, I didn't find it as useful for walking tours. Still good, but not great.THE perfect walking tour guide book! This is the only guidebook you need for a walking tour of Savannah. It's thin and light weight- so it's easy to carry and provides just enough information to educate, but not overwhelm you with unnecessary facts.

He Understands And Makes It OK As a police officer I just went through a major shooting incident. As I read this book, Col. Grossman went through it with me. He described to a tee every emotion I experienced. Reading this book was extremely helpful.an excellent read An interesting study on killing during war, from the Civil War to the present. Contrary to what one sees through Hollywood's eyes, there is an extreme reluctance for one human being to kill another, even in time of war. Further, the author's findings help explain PTSD, a frequent result found in our combat veterans. Then applied to our society's current ills, he identifies the logical explanation for random mass murders and other mayhem. Overall, it's a thought-provoking read.Required reading in military leadership schools This is required reading in military leadership courses and extremely insightful. I would strongly recommend this book for any service members (I'm a retired Soldier), law enforcement, or psychologists and clinical social workers (my wife is an LCSW) who work with military or law enforcement. I read this book after my second combat deployment when I had a lot weighing on my mind and it really put things into prospective for me.
