Title: Ruthless King Pdf
An Amazon Top 100 Bestseller!

My d*ck never got me in half as much trouble as my heart...

We were high school sweethearts. I was head over heels for her and no one could tell me we weren't going to last forever. College? Going pro? My family's money? None of it mattered. She was all I needed.

Then she ripped my heart out. But I'm not going to let that happen again.

She's back. Invading my life and acting like she was the wronged one. The pain is still there, but I can't keep my eyes off her. I can't stop thinking about her and how much was left unsaid between us. Being this close is making me question everything I thought I knew about her.

This time everything will be on my terms. Everything...

5 All I Needed Was You Stars! I have been dying for this story from the moment I was introduced to Emmett and Avery in the prequel novella, Kings of Rittenhouse. Second chance romances are one of my very favorite tropes and Maya Hughes really delivered! Though this is book 3 in the series, it can be read as a stand alone. It will be most appreciated, however, if read in order/if the prequel is read first. This book hurt my heart in the best way. The angst and anguish were high in Ruthless King and there were times I didn't think my heart could take it. Emmett and Avery's love burned brightly in high school for 3 years and just when their future should have been opening up before them, things came to a screeching and gut wrenching end. Secrets and circumstances outside of their control drove a wedge right between them. 4 years have passed, and though they still share mutual friends, the pain and anger is so strong that they cannot tolerate being around each other. An epic summer reunion at the shore, however, throws these two back in each other's orbits and past and present come crashing together. You could cut the tension with a knife between these two and so many hurtful words were voiced, especially by Emmett. It becomes clear though that not everything was as it seemed and when the truth explodes between them, readers should hang on tight to their hearts.I loved Emmett and Avery. Yes, they acted rashly and immaturely at times and made mistake after mistake when they skirted the truth instead of being open and honest, but they both truly only wanted the best for the other. They were so dependent on each other, however, that I felt they needed to be apart so that they could truly grow. Emmett is without a doubt my favorite King. I swooned so hard at how fiercely and deeply Emmett loved. Chapter 14 shattered my heart and pieced it back together at the same time. My chest squeezed so tight reading that chapter.Emmett's toxic relationship with his parents broke my heart and explained a lot of his insecurities and reactions. I admired Avery's tenacity and the lengths she would go to for her family and those that she loved. Even though I anticipated the drama at the end, I was still upset and annoyed by Avery's inability to come clean until forced. This was a time when I found both sides in the wrong, however, and that made the situation easier to understand and forgive. The story comes full circle in the epilogue and left my heart so full. It also set up Ford's story wonderfully and I cannot wait to see how that unfolds (and how Colm reacts!) Really loved this one and I will ALWAYS be ready and wanting more of Emmett and Avery!Angtsy, emotional second chance romance Maya Hughes is a semi new author to me and I really liked what I've read from the Rittenhouse Prep books so far. Not just hockey themed but character driven, less on the sport but on the players I think. I've seen bits and pieces of Emmett and Avery's story from the other books and always wondered what went down. There was always so much angst and tension in their scenes. The summer vacation was a time to clear it out but not without a lot of angry words and bickering.Avery did something she kept from Emmett, despite their all consuming relationship when they were younger. It was all brought to a halt when things with her dad took a turn for the worst. Her family has always been something she values, she works so hard for them sacrificing her own time and happiness. Only Emmett was her safe place but rich parents interfere as they always do causing one huge misunderstanding and miscommunication. I wish so hard they just let everything out in the open earlier could have avoided the heartache. Especially since he never got along with his parents, lonely rich boy longing for love. While I'm not sure I love all the angst it was necessary to build up everything. It made it more complicated and compelling for sure. Made me want to root for characters. I only wish the ending didn't wrap up so fast with the reveal I wanted more of them together. But it made sense in that they had to find their relationship qgain before truth came to light. Lies always do have a way of catching up on you. I do admire the friendship between everyone how much they care for the other and supporting each other.Ruthless King described Emmett so well in personality, his unwavering love for Avery though is something else. It was a truly second chance story they weathered the storms and made it through stronger. That cliffy for the next book is juicy and I can't wait! One of my favorite second chance romances of all time! Ever since book one in the Kings of Rittenhouse series, Emmett and Avery’s story was the one I wanted to be told. I could just sense something so special about the love that these two shared and I just needed to know what happened between them. And let me tell you…..this story was absolutely worth the wait! Maya Hughes came up with a brilliant and wonderful tale for Emmett and Avery, and I loved it more than I can say. They are forced to be around one another during a summer trip with their mutual friends, and neither of them are excited about it. It brings up all the old wounds between them (Emmett doesn’t know the truth about what kept them apart and why Avery broke his heart)…. but it also highlights the feelings and chemistry between them that never went away. These two are like magnets to one another, and once they have it out and give into that connection that keeps pulling them together – whoa! Emmett and Avery’s reunion was beyond hot!Of course, life can’t be easy for them, as there is a lot of hurt and trust issues that they need to work through……and things that Avery wants to keep hidden, find a way to the surface to cause even more problems. But if Emmett loves Avery, he will find a way to make things work and not let the issues of the past dictate their future.Ruthless King has already found a way onto my favorites list of 2019, as it’s just one of those stories I know I won’t forget. Emmett and Avery’s romance is truly special, and I hope that everyone else falls in love with them like I have.

Great ¨Toy¨ That is Really Educational! One side of the flash card has the picture and word (as shown on the box) and the other side has just the word. My daughter will be 2 in 2 months and she really loves these. She partially just loves making a mess with the cards, but she also does really well with identifying the side that has the word and picture. I would say most of the words are 6 letters or less (most of them being 4 letter words). These are a great tool for younger kids like my toddler and would also be beneficial as you prepare your child for pre-k or kindergarten sight words. This is a great set, however This is a great set, however, spend a couple of extra dollars and get the Grade PK-3 Learning Flash Cards set. You get the same exact words in that set as you do in this set and then much much more. I ended up giving this set to my niece because there was no point in me having two of the same sets.My son is 3 years old and has autism. ... My son is 3 years old and has autism. He is non-verbal. I got these cards to work with him and he loves them. He will actually sit down and let me go through the whole stack. He hasn't repeated any words yet but he can point to certain ones if I ask "where's the duck..." . I am confident he will be speaking soon though! :)

Title: Great at Work Pdf How Top Performers Do Less, Work Better, and Achieve More
Author: Morten Hansen
Published Date: 2018-01-30
Page: 320
Wall Street Journal Business Bestseller
A Financial Times Business Book of the Month
Named by The Washington Post as One of the 11 Leadership Books to Read in 2018

From the New York Times bestselling coauthor of Great by Choice comes an authoritative, practical guide to individual performance—based on analysis from an exhaustive, groundbreaking study.

Why do some people perform better at work than others? This deceptively simple question continues to confound professionals in all sectors of the workforce. Now, after a unique, five-year study of more than 5,000 managers and employees, Morten Hansen reveals the answers in his “Seven Work Smarter Practices” that can be applied by anyone looking to maximize their time and performance.

Each of Hansen’s seven practices is highlighted by inspiring stories from individuals in his comprehensive study. You’ll meet a high school principal who engineered a dramatic turnaround of his failing high school; a rural Indian farmer determined to establish a better way of life for women in his village; and a sushi chef, whose simple preparation has led to his restaurant (tucked away under a Tokyo subway station underpass) being awarded the maximum of three Michelin stars. Hansen also explains how the way Alfred Hitchcock filmed Psycho and the 1911 race to become the first explorer to reach the South Pole both illustrate the use of his seven practices (even before they were identified).

Each chapter contains questions and key insights to allow you to assess your own performance and figure out your work strengths, as well as your weaknesses. Once you understand your individual style, there are mini-quizzes, questionnaires, and clear tips to assist you focus on a strategy to become a more productive worker. Extensive, accessible, and friendly, Great at Work will help you achieve more by working less, backed by unprecedented statistical analysis.

Redesign your process This was interesting book. I've read quite a bit of productivity books but this was still helpful. A lot of books I've read mostly focused on mindset. This one focused more on practices. The most notable advice I took from it is, work less then obsess. You minimize the amount of things you work on and then obsess over the one task or topic. I've learned from work experiences that it's better to work on one item at a time vs multiple. They had a studies proving that working longer hours didn't result in more work done. If only all managers in this world knew this.Redesigning your workflow can also help you be more productive. The example of flipped learning in schools was intriguing. Having students learn their lessons at home by watching videos and then doing the work in class where teachers could help. Makes me wonder how many schools actually practice this method and how successful are they with it.If you are looking to have that work/life balance, that's the last topic they cover. Too often have I thought about work while at home rather than spending it with my family. We all need that balance regardless if you have kids or significant other or just yourself. While a majority of the tips given in this book are easily applicable, one that is not is refusing your ... Morten Hansen’s educational and compelling new book, “Great at Work,” provides readers with a new perspective on “great performance” in the workplace. The attractiveness of this book is that it presented an evidence-based, comprehensive understanding. In creating the survey discussed in this book, Morten considered the findings of over 200 published academic studies relating to working smarter. Throughout the book, Morten provides results from a regression analysis performance study of 5,000 people. The 5,000 people represented 15 industry sectors and 22 job functions with a balanced ratio of gender, age and education level. The results are presented within three main parts – mastering your own work, mastering working with others and mastering work-life balance.Morten had a sophisticated literature review; he not only talked about his own books in the field, but also the works of other authors. Within the book, he referenced The War for Talent, On the Mend, Drive, Peak, Contagious, Power, and 7 Habits of Highly Effective People to name a few. Even Oprah Winfrey made the cut, when Morten talked about her commencement address to Stanford’s graduating class of 2008.In what could have been a dry, instructional, lecture style novel, Morten Hansen has created a composition of tips to help employees work smarter (not harder) and achieve more. By enhancing the reading with scenarios in multiple work settings, he has allowed any individual the ability to relate to these different situations and develop ways to use the strategies in their own daily work lives.Morten presented strategies for measuring and maximizing value, the art of deliberate practice, and matching purpose and passion. Morten mentioned that more activities does not equal more value and provided an equation for measuring value. This equation states that the value of a person’s work equals the benefits to others multiplied by the quality of the work multiplied by the efficiency. Another idea he presented was deliberate practice which involves doing a new skill, getting feedback, and making the necessary changes based on the feedback provided. Morten challenged the accepted idea to “follow your passion”. Morten tested the idea and concluded that one had to match his or her passion with purpose to be truly effective at work. While a majority of the tips given in this book are easily applicable, one that is not is refusing your boss. Although, Morten does mention the difficulty of this task and how it should be exercised with caution, there are many factors to consider before applying this tip. Firstly, the employee must fully understand the goals of the team and his or her role. If the employee does not have this understanding, he or she will not be able to give proper reasoning for refusing his or her manager. Secondly, he or she must understand the culture of the company that he or she is working for. If the culture in the company encourages employee involvement with changing processes, then refusing to take on a new project would not be frowned upon. Conversely, if the culture of the company does not encourage employee involvement then the refusal might not be accepted.Morten defies convention by providing a new perspective profound beliefs from the learnings within the chapter. A person doesn’t have to change his or her life by any modern standard, but this appreciably readable book is not in the business of following the status quo. Not only does this book elucidate the keys for top work performance, it provides a new perspective which could change one’s approach in all fields of life and maintain a positive work life balance.

The Design of Everyday Things Free Pdf

ISBN: B07L5Y9HND
Title: The Design of Everyday Things Pdf Revised and Expanded Edition

The ultimate guide to human-centered design.

Even the smartest among us can feel inept as we fail to figure out which light switch or oven burner to turn on, or whether to push, pull, or slide a door. The fault, argues this ingenious - even liberating - audiobook, lies not in ourselves, but in product design that ignores the needs of users and the principles of cognitive psychology. The problems range from ambiguous and hidden controls to arbitrary relationships between controls and functions, coupled with a lack of feedback or other assistance and unreasonable demands on memorization.

The Design of Everyday Things shows that good, usable design is possible. The rules are simple: make things visible, exploit natural relationships that couple function and control, and make intelligent use of constraints. The goal: guide the user effortlessly to the right action on the right control at the right time.

The Design of Everyday Things is a powerful primer on how - and why - some products satisfy customers while others only frustrate them.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Can't stand this book This book was assigned in a UX/UI college class, and I'm not done with it but I've read enough to know I hate it and honestly can't believe my school treats this book like it's the bible of design or something. I'm used to academic topis being studied with rigor, and this book is 95% one person sharing his opinion and experience (with a few mentions of studies) . In other words it's just anecdotal. And it reads like a crotchety old man who complains about everything. Like, he can find the problem with every design, but doesn't spend half as much time talking about good design. To summarize, I find this book weak regarding the validity of it since it's just one person's opinion, it creates the experience of just listening to someone complains about everything, and doesn't leave me feeling like I'm learning any useful design skills. This is a book that could be a pamphlet A pamphlet may be able to be reduced to a single-page flow chart. It's a Norman book in the same way a terrible door is a Norman door. That assumes its purpose is to inform the reader in a succinct manner, and not generate money for the author who mentions his other works many times throughout. It's exceptionally good at generating revenue; maybe I'm applying his solution to the wrong problem, the correct problem being 'I need money for a boat.'This is so annoying to me I don't know if I can finish ... So far, the content is informative and interesting. However, I would think a book about design would be well designed. The section headings on the left sided pages are so far to the right I have to crack the spine all the way open to read many of them. This is so annoying to me I don't know if I can finish reading it. The small, grainy graphics are also dismaying. It's difficult to have confidence in the author's expertise when so little thought is put into the presentation.
